U.S. 189 Wallsburg to Heber Week Look Ahead 7/27/12

  • Paving work on the passing lanes by Rainbow Bay is scheduled midweek next week and is expected to last for two days. Traffic will be limited to one lane, one direction at a time with flaggers present to direct traffic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while work occurs. Drivers are encouraged to plan for extra time when traveling through the area.
  • Northbound S. Daniels Rd. is scheduled to close to traffic for a couple of days during early August while crews tie-in to S. Daniels Rd. for the new road connection between S. Daniels Rd. and the 1300 S. intersection. Traffic traveling northbound on S. Daniels Rd. will be encouraged to seek alternate routes and traffic traveling southbound turning from U.S. 189 onto S. Daniels Rd. will be shifted to allow crews to do this work.
  • Asphalt work at the Heber Main St./U.S. 189 intersection is scheduled to begin August 6. Crews will remove portions of the old asphalt and repave in this area. The concrete median will also be relocated. Once it starts, this work is expected to take approximately 2-3 weeks to complete. Lanes will be reduced and congestion is likely. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during this time. Please stay tuned to these updates for more detailed information as it becomes available.
  • Crews are scheduled to begin paving the south side of U.S. 189 between S. Charleston Rd. and Heber Main St. in early August. Traffic will remain shifted to the north and one lane in each direction will remain open. Drivers can expect increased truck traffic as this work occurs. This work is being done to widen the road in this area.

Ongoing Project Work:

  • Crews are finishing the connections for the underground cables that will be used for traffic management. This work should be complete in the coming weeks. It is being done outside of the roadway and should not impact traffic.
  • Traffic has been shifted to the new pavement on the north side of the highway between 1300 S. and S. Charleston Rd. as crews continue to install material in preparation for paving and widening the road on that side.

Other Area Projects:

  • Provo Canyon Concrete Rehab- Work to repair and replace new concrete in certain sections of U.S. 189 near the mouth of Provo Canyon has begun. One lane in each direction will remain open but traffic will be shifted to allow crews room to work. Access to Sundance as well as Vivian and Nunn Park will be maintained. For more information this project, please contact Cameron Erickson with Dry Creek Structures at (801) 766-0444.
  • Heber City Water Line- Heber City is replacing a water line on U.S. 40 near the U.S. 189 intersection. For questions about that work, please contact Willa Motley at 435-654-2226. This work is expected to be complete by the end of next week.
