2010 Ron Crittenden | County Assessor

Introducing RON CRITTENDEN for Wasatch County Assessor

Hello, I am grateful to HeberValley.info for the opportunity to provide you more detailed information about my candidacy. I feel the more the voters know about the 3 of us running for Assessor the better it is for me!!

Why Ron wants to be Wasatch County Assessor:

I have had many years of public service and various educational and experience opportunities that have prepared me to be very well qualified for the responsibility of County Assessor. I have been interested in taking on this challenge for some time now as I have observed that a lack of management experience and education have caused this office to be not as well administered as the taxpayers deserve. A few years back the office lost (it came up missing!!) thousands of taxpayer funds and the recent disclosure that one of the assessor offices appraisers had their license revoked for making improper appraisals (though for non-county work) but is still receiving a taxpayer supported salary, and this years over a 1000 protests of property valuations brings into question the level of managerial procedures, training and oversight that is occurring in the assessors office. I feel confident that I can do a better job of running this office in the best interests of the taxpayer.

Why the PUBLIC should want RON to be their ASSESSOR:

For an office that is so important to the citizens and the valuation/taxation of all county properties, the public needs and deserves that it is run by someone with good management experience and educational preparation in areas related to the duties of that office. As a Utah State licensed Real Estate Agent (24 years) and a former County Treasurer and Congressional Office State Director and 40 years income tax preparation experience I am prepared to understand the laws and procedures that are incumbent duties of the office and to best serve the citizens and taxpayers of Wasatch County.

If citizens will support me with their vote I promise to run the County Assessors office with INTEGRITY to produce appraisals that are FAIR & CURRENT with ACTUAL MARKET VALUES. I further pledge to provide YOU an office of
FRIENDLY-INFORMATIVE-PROFESSIONAL SERVICE

RON’S Management Philosophy for the Statutory Office of County Assessor:

As a Constitution Party candidate I believe in being bound by the US Constitution in all my acts as Assessor and in “the rule of law” and I recognize and respect that the laws, rules and regulations that govern the ASSESSOR’S OFFICE have been developed over many years of careful consideration and legislation, and I intend to follow and administer them very carefully. Doing so, helps ensure that all the taxpayers and citizens are treated in a fair and equitable manner. But when it appears that the system is not working efficiently or fairly I will get involved (using my considerable legislative experience) to improve the laws for the good of everyone. Thisapproach helps produce fair and equitable treatment of all better than the other alternatives where the problem law is just ignored or ‘overlooked’ for some favored few.

COUNTY APPRAISALS :
The County Assessor’s Office employs several appraisers to help keep the property values current. I will supervise the office appraisers carefully to assure that the property values are as current and equitable as possible. It seems obvious to me that if values go up promptly in inflation times they should come down just as promptly in periods of economic decline. (It should be noted that if all property valuations go down evenly it won’t necessarily change the taxes because the county can just adjust the mill levy {taxing factor} to produce the same revenue. The issue is to keep the values equitable within various county properties and in relation to other counties - so as to not have our taxpayers paying an unfair share of the state imposed taxes.)

Through 24 years as a LICENSED REAL ESTATE AGENT -I have passed and kept current on education requirements regarding real estate procedures and market analysis etc. and I’m aware of the several requirements for an appraiser and the Code of Ethics & Standards of Professional Conduct. I pledge to follow the same and to supervise the county appraisers to assure that they do also.

RON’S VOTING PHILOSOPHY on choosing the BEST CANDIDATES for PUBLIC OFFICE and GOOD GOVERNMENT:

> It’s not as important that we vote for the candidate:
*who has the most yard signs or newspaper ads or,
*who has the most relatives or friends or,
* who’s in my club or social group or church or even which POLITICAL PARTY they are in.

>But rather:

*Who has the MOST EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION that’s RELEVANT to the office being sought and who has the philosophy of government and the office that most agrees with your own idea of good and proper government and,

*who has demonstrated by past work, service, responsibilities and performance that they have integrity and are committed, determined and trustworthy to fulfill their duties of the office they seek.

*Are they the same choice that you would hire for your own employee? —as indeed they are your employees- as public servants paid by required taxes!!!

*Do we each have the integrity to vote for the best choice for the job even if the other candidate is our friend or relative or neighbor ??

I HOPE THAT BOTH YOU and I DO–for the good of both of us.

RON, HIS WIFE SANDY & THEIR 7 CHILDREN ASK FOR YOUR SUPPORT ON NOV 2ND!!

THANKS.
