2010 David Remington | County Recorder
David Remington for County Recorder
I was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in the suburb of Lake Oswego. I graduated from high school there and then attended Brigham Young University for a year before going on an LDS mission to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where I learned to speak French. I returned to BYU, where I completed my studies with a double major in Political Science and International Relations. In 1994 I interned with a former US Congressman for a semester. A year and half later while still enrolled in school, I married the love of my life, the former Kira Kolba. On that note it is our 15th anniversary tomorrow. There is a popular saying that behind every good man is a better woman and that certainly is true in my case. A few years later I finished my university studies with a Master’s Degree in Public Policy.
Since then my career path has taken a turn away mostly from government, though I did have a short stint with the Federal government and with a food distribution company. I have worked in several management positions in the hospitality industry where I have supervised up to 20 staff members and worked on budgets in the millions.
I have lived in Heber City for several years, and have tried to serve the community in a variety of ways. I have been a volunteer soccer coach, have assisted in building a house for a friend, and served on the Heber City Airport board for about a year and a half. I love trying to help and serve people. Whether I am elected or not I will continue serving my community and fellow citizens and neighbors.
I am the first one to admit that yes I will have a lot to learn. I have been successful and have been acknowledged several times as an employee of the month, quarter, and even the year. I will work hard to study the laws, policies and procedures of the office. I will reach out to the other county departments which will in most cases be in for some changes in leadership. I will uphold the principles of the Republican party which are honesty, integrity, morality and accountability. I hold these values dear to me and I try to live my life in harmony with them. I know that this election and campaign has been and will continue to be an uphill battle for me. I pledge to make the County Recorder’s office more effective in serving this great community.
